KKG has provided Access and Functional Needs (AFN) subject matter expertise over the past several years through a variety of Bay Area Urban Security Initiative (UASI) projects for Mass Transportation and Evacuation and Mass Care and Shelter. Our team has also developed AFN planning strategies and tools for the City of San Jose and Santa Clara County Public Health Department.
California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) and KKG collaborated to develop a guidance for the evacuation and transportation of people with disabilities and others with access and functional needs in a large scale emergency and update portions of the Access and Functional Needs Planning Evacuation Toolkit on the CalOES website.
Our team members have a strong understanding of local government roles and responsibilities relative to the inclusion of people with access and functional needs and animal care, and will utilize this in an upcoming project to with Solano County to develop a Mass Care Plan for the county.
