The After-Action Report/Improvement Plan (AAR/IP) process is the capstone activity to all the effort that an organization puts into emergency planning, organizing, equipping, training, exercising and responding. The process helps to develop a roadmap for improvement. The After-Action Report (AAR) captures observations of an exercise and makes recommendations for post-exercise improvements; and the Improvement Plan (IP) identifies specific corrective actions, assigns them to responsible parties, and establishes targets for their completion.
From past and current experiences with other clients, KKG knows that an After-Action Report and Improvement Plan is critical to identify strengths, areas for improvement, and corrective actions that help organizations build capabilities as part of a larger continuous improvement process. Through improvement planning, KKG works with clients to take the corrective actions needed to improve plans, build and sustain capabilities, and maintain readiness.
KKG has completed HSEEP AAR/IP reporting for the County of Santa Clara as a component of a Volunteer Management Exercise series. Following the 2017 North Bay Fires, KKG developed a comprehensive AAR/IP for the City of Santa Rosa’s Emergency Operations Center response to the Tubbs/Nuns Fires.
